One run was the difference at the ballpark as the Columbus Crowd defeated the
Dominican Republicans 3 to 2.
Columbus scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing
3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Brad Wilkerson kicked off the action
when he ripping a solo home run (his 16th of the season). After another out,
Jason Varitek stepped up to the plate and he cracked a solo homerun (his 13th
of the season). Dominican had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Bob Howry(3-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Latroy Hawkins recorded the save, his 5th. Eric
Milton(6-12) was the loser.
